I haven't seen Beeman in awhile. Sent him an Email a few days ago.

I expect that it might be appropriate. You will have my personal permission to slap anybody who requests Amazing Grace, though.
...and am I a South Sider? Do da bear wear a funny hat? Go you White Sox! The black-out is on!

Iain, why don't you suggest a date since you're the one coming from the greatest distance, Greg (Beloitpiper) is apparently available during much the same time-frame as you and he's coming from Wisconsin. One note, we've generally had our best turnouts on Fridays and Saturdays.

Well, then, what would you say to Friday, Oct. 17?

If you're aiming at The Duke's, I remind you that Friday is all-you-can-eat fish and chips night. Now at first glance, this might seem ideal but remember that The Duke's is located in the middle of a neighborhood full of twenty-somethings who are paying top dollar rent to live in the trendy zone...the lure of an unlimited supply of very delicious chow proves, I am reliably informed, downright irresistable to a veritable slew of young people who are trying to stretch their livin'-la-vida-loca-lifestyle bucks. Thus be forewarned...somebody should get there relatively early and establish a beachhead for the kilted brethren. Maybe Greg should consider bringing his GHB's along and lettin' 'em rip at full volume in an effort to clear the place out enough for us to fit some kilties in. Not casting any "asparagus" on the quality of Greg's playing but rather counting on the volume of the GHB (to which kilted folk are immune...in fact we actually enjoy it) to help the young folks reconsider all-you-can-eat taco night at the Mexican joint across the street.

HAHAH! John, that's hilarious. But hey, why not Friday? I'd love to have proper pub-grub, and this place sounds perfect. Plus, have you seen the hipsters in that area? Most of those 20-somethings can't eat more than 2 pieces of fish and a beer! They eat a little, go out to a trendier bar, and we swoop in!
See you on the 17th.

Gosh, this is hilarious -- I was just checking the map and I see that the Duke is right near where I used to live my senior year of college -- well before it became yuppiefied.
OK, so maybe it was just funny to me ...

I'm going to start a new thread on this since Beeman started this one. If he DOES come to town, we can do another night.
