I am Jewish and keep kosher. I went into the kosher butcher, in my USMC kilt, white shirt and kippah (skullcap). An obviously orthodox older gentleman said, obviously intending for me to hear, "That's bold, coming into a kosher store cross-dressed." I turned to him and said, very respectfully "Sir, you are mistaken, this is a kilt, a Scottish man's garment, not a woman's skirt. I follow the commandments on not wearing women's clothing." He gave me a brief nod, and apologized for the mistake, and we both went about our business.
