I think this is what you are looking for. The hose I have are not knit inside out, the cuff is knit twice the length with the argyle pattren at the top portion. This is then folding inside and stiched, so when the hose tops are folded over they are twice the thickness. I hope this helps.

BTW...are those the National Scot pattern? That's almost exactly what I am going for! My wife, bless her heart, is trying to figure out the pattern (she is an accomplished knitter) and if they come out, colour-wise, anywhere close I will be a happy camper.
