    canvas sporran

I've mentioned in several other threads that I have been working on a sporran. I found some very heavy canvas in my stash and used the pattern from Thompson to make it. I downloaded instructions for a monkeyfist knot to make the button and "tassels." Here it is:

Along with everything else on my list, I told Scooby I'd make him one too; I have some dark rust canvas in the same weight that ought to go nicely with his denim XKilt.

Looks good. I don't think I've ever seen a canvas sporran before.

I bought the stuff to make one, never got around to it. I was going to wear it with my black shadow SWK.

Hmmm, maybe I should make one of those to go with my canvas kilt...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

The nice thing about canvas, aside from the material being found and free, is that it can be sewn by machine. If I were going to make very many, I'd buy a punch for the eyelets, I might anyway. I'm using an existing web belt with d rings for now, but I may make a matching belt at some point.

    Very Nice

I have a bit of canvas lying around my self and some great green cloth for a two tone approach. Now i need that pattern ( Thompson's book to come in the mail) and 2) bribe my friend to give up her machine for a few hours.

BTW how long did that take to sew?

I bet I spent more actual time on the knots and eyelets than on the sewing. I guess I probably spent two hours in total on it. I did make a false start and ended up cutting a new back/flap as the first one was too small. I may yet use that one to make another copy for Scooby; he's almost as big around as I am but not nearly as tall; his kilt is five inches shorter than mine.

Looks good. I have a canvas work kilt coming (not soon enough!), and that looks like just the ticket for it.

That thing is nice. I'd like to pick something like that up for casual or work wear.
