Do you wear a kilt to work? Then what do you do?

I'm a bicycle mechanic and wore mine for the first time on sat. The temps are dropping fast so probably not again till spring unless I can come up with a heavy, warm one. Bike shop people all tend to the weird side so it isn't actually considered too odd.

Besides being a minister (part time) I also own several other sales companies, I was an insurance agent for over twenty five years, that would be problematic making calls in a kilt. I now do merchant services , I have done support work in my kilt but never a new sales call. I have thought about incorporating the kilt into a new sales program emphasizing quality and afford ability (two things that go with the idea of Scottish nature). As to the ministerial side, I am currently marketing myself as themed wedding minister, and I have been teaching class in my kilts as well.

I have worn a Buzz Kidder when working in the past, but not often anymore. I work with ceramics. I also grow cacti and a few other desert crops, as well as, citrus, figs and grapes, all on a small scale. I did an experiment with gardening in the same kilt, but didn't do any work that would have dammaged the kilt. I would not do any of that in a wool kilt.

I host a syndicated classic rock morning radio show, and they expect me to be different. I only have one kilt so far, so I try not to burn it out. once my personal economy improves, I'll get a couple others, and increase the frequency. Frequency? Get it!! er...nevermind

Well I know one job where you can wear it on the unemployment line......
Unfortunately that where I am at the moment. Hopefully not for long EI won't last forever .

I'm a licensed professional counelor, work in the addictions field mostly. Since I sit all day the kilt is comfy. Was wearing kilts daily then had to work through some "stuff" with management. Now wear kilts a couple of times a week.

Have worn kilts into our local jail and into our local courts when supporting clients. When called for jury duty wore pants, didn't wanna be the distraction. Also get invited to the local high school two days each semester to speak to classes about the effects of alcohol and drugs on the mind and body. Always go kilted. Seems to grab their attention. Always positive comments from students when I'm crossing the campus.

I'm always kilted at professional conferences, trainings, and all day quarterly staff meetings. For comfort while a "chair prisoner."

When interviewed for a seat on the board of directors of our local domestic violence service agency I went kilted. Was selected. Often kilted at DV events and board meetings.

Advantage of living in a small town (6,800) folks come to expect to see me kilted.

I work on servers for a fairly large company and no one even bats an eye when I wear my kilt, If I go any length of time with out wearing it I do get asked why I am not wearing it though. To 91tbrick if you are looking for a really heavy kilt I believe that WPG still has 22 oz blackwatch kilts for sale that would be about as warm as you can get.

Systems administration and desktop support at Stanford University medical center. I wear a kilt 2-3 days a week, and nobody bats an eye. Even the Cafe workers and maintenance guys are cool with it, now.

I'm the managing editor at an Internet Tech company, and we have a VERY casual dress code. Therefore, I try to wear my kilt as much as possible.
