Go kilted and covered. The Lodge that you are visiting may involve open stairways that bode poorly for kilt privacy. Many people who are not kilt wearers know only of kilted people the myth of THE Question. It does not pay to advertise to those that may be visually inquiring.
I am a religious educator of wee uns. (kindergarten and first grade) It would not be proper to teach kilted and risk being uncovered.

Seconded. Better safe than sorry. I know that at the lodge here, the corronations are done on a set of steps, so it may be a wise precaution anyway.
