By way of a post script to this thread, I noticed today while thumbing through the electronic version of Barney's designer mailer (bizarrely featuring what appears to be boys on the verge of their change of voice playing "dress-up") something looking remarkably like a kilt on their page 15. On closer inspection, I see that it is the shilt, selling for $1025.
Such a pity.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Rex, I tried to go through that web site and find the shilt in question... I couldn't quite get passed the "HAVE A HIPPIE HOLIDAY!"part. Is that like have a Hairy Christmass?
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

You know what? I really hate this, not only because it is ugly, but because the whole "high fashion" industry is artificially inflating demand for nothing, causing seriously dangerous consumption habits, which in turn lead to massive waste and pollution.
Why can't we let fashion flow freely without some designer from New York, London, or Paris telling us that "Da, darling, ruffs vill be coming back dees wint-air, just you vait."

Who would have guessed that clothing designers hate men just as much as they hate women?
Why else would they design clothing so thoroughly unattractive and outrageously priced?

When I was a little kid I thought about becoming a clothing designer when I grew up partly because I was always around people making clothes, but...
Kind of glad that didn't work out because I could not put up with the minute to minute style changing, and "Oh, that is last minutes style" that goes on.
Anyway, I'm not too worried about the world being overrun with shilts, and since this is the Off Topic forum, I'm out of here.
