Comme des Garçons’ Fall 2008 Collection
She's at it again. She of the Tartan Wad that inspired my haiku.
Rei Kawakubo, under the label Comme des Garçons, presents:
The "Shilt"
That would be the combination Shorts-Kilt, like "skorts," the skirt-shorts chimera. (Remember what a hit those were?)
OK, now gentlemen...
We can have a nice, academic discussion about the influence of the traditional highland garment on modern apparel or we can all pile on and say how much we hate it and all runway fashion.
It really is the marriage of the traditional kilt with the Utilikilt modesty sna....
Oh, who am I kidding?
I'll be the first to admit: I think it looks like shilt.
Regards from the front row of the runways,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

As much as I'm trying to keep an open mind, Shilt is the proper descriptor. Now to gouge my eyes out with a spork.

And this shall be for music, when no one else is near; The fine song for singing, the rare song to hear; That only I remember, that only you admire; Of the broad road that stretches and the roadside fire. (RL Stevenson)

Well... I'm glad I don't have to look at it then... I like kilts.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
