    Thanks, Nighthawk!
I might buy kilt pins from SK, but not much else. My kilt from them has taken far too much aftermarket effort and still isn't done.
On the other hand, I have been very pleased with my USAK and will buy from them again. (Can you say "tweed"?)
Phogfan, thanks for your input too!

usa kilts. the extra money on a semi-trad will get you a handmade kilt made to your measurements with fringed apron, strap/buckle closures and 18-30 pleats matched to sett or stripe.

good luck pulling the trigger. it's the hardest part, isn't it?

Ooohhh, tweed. Now there's an idea. Might hafta get me one o' them.

If the USA falls in your budget limits, go for it. I am extremely jazzed to wear my new USA Macduff Red Modern to our St. Andrew Society kirkin' Sunday. Looks great, feels great and Rocky and his crew are great to work with!

Sorry. Didn't mean to badmouth Scotsweb. I just remember when I was looking to spend some money on a nice kilt some months back, being really frustrated with seeing a really nice price on the homepage and then seeing substantially higher numbers once I turned to actually picking a tartan.

Thanks Moosedog, The advice by review is very through. I have set up my USA Kilts account and I will start measuring tomorrow. I will have to wait a couple of weeks to buy, while I wait on payroll. You know it's always something holding me back.

PS I got my "Welcome to USA Kilts message" this afternoon, so I'm on the books now.

thanks for all the great advice.

Hey Scully, while you're waiting have a look at Ron's (RiverKilt) pics:

    RK's bunch o' kilts

Just work your way down the left hand navigation--he's got something like 20 USAKs!

I'll go and recommend USA Kilts. The workmanship is top quality, and Rocky delivers when he says he will. Just bought a Christmas gift for my bride, a hostess skirt, was promised in 8 weeks, but delivered in 6 weeks. Best of all he is in country, and that can mean a lot if there are any adjustments that need to be made.

Yeah, same here. Mine is essentially really expensive pijammas. On the other hand, I do have to say that SK's customer service is great, and honestly, I like all of their other products. I want one of their PC jackets. It's not the traditional PC jacket, and I like it for that. It looks like a modern take on tradition, which is how I see myself, so it has endeared itself to me. The only thing I've gotten from them that I don't like... is my kilt!! I love my noggin wrap, I've gotten two pairs of flashes, and various items for my wife, including two skirts. Their service and general quality isn't the issue- it's the design of the kilts! USA Kilts is just lightyears ahead. I buy acessories from them fairly often. (Point here is make it very clear that I'm not badmouthing Sport Kilts in any way, because they don't deserve to be bad mouthed!)

I'll have to look at the PCs.
Personally, I'm drooling over Kevin Kinney's shooting jackets sold by the STM. Also, I REALLY like USAK's tweed jackets.

Scully- Lots of folks like their SKs. I'm just relating preference based on my experience.
