    Tartan Choices

Hello out there. I'm going to make my fiance a kilt for our wedding. He's a MacPherson and I'm not sure which one of the MacPherson tartans I'm supposed to use. Can he just pick the one he likes best or is there a particular tartan to use for this formal occasion? Thank you!

from coastal North Carolina. The dress tartans are often considered more formal that the hunting, but it's really a matter of personal preference. If you have not made a kilt before, I would recommend getting a copy of Barb T's book from http://www.celticdragonpress.com/.

Any of the MacPherson tartans would be fine, the best thing to would be to get the tartan that he likes the best, as wearing the kilt for the first time can be a bit nerve wracking being as comfortable as possible with the tartan chosen is important.

Any tartan is fine. In my experience a lot of MacPhersons go for the hunting tartan pictured here:

And mazel tov on your upcoming nuptials.
