Always a sad day to lose one of your family. We all know that they cease to be pets and become truely family members to us at a very early stage. I'm thankful that our two border collies are still able to run and play, and don't look forward the the day they can't.

My condolences. Losing a long time well loved "non human companion" is always a blow.

Had a friend once who was of the opinion that his at own demise, the first stop would be the Elesyian fields, where he would be joyously greeted with all the beloved pets of his lifetime. I'm not sure of the theology, but I like to think it true.

Just this past January I had to put down my Pete...he was 14 and we had him since he was a pup. He had a tumor, and was suffering seizures, so it was for the best. I am sure the same applies to you. Your pup will be in your heart, so keep those warm and happy memories.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's really hard to lose a pet. I think you made a comment on my husband's thread about my cat, who we had put to sleep the same day as Beans. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

thank you all, kind words mean alot

thank you all for your kind words, They do mean alot, it was an awful couple of days, possibly as I stayed with her until the end, then had to drive 40 miles back home with her, my vet was brilliant, he is good with animals but equally so with people, Beans had a bleed on the brain a week ago today and was shaking violently for an hour and a half, but the vet gave her medication and we came back home but on tuesday night she was poorly and when I took her to the vet, things were worse, and I did not want to remember her in pain, so decided to have her go to sleep, I'm not sure if it's normal but Bruno (my other pup) howls when we leave him, so I have to take him everywhere,

I'm sorry, it's never easy. I've cried both times I've had to put down our cats.

My deepest condolences. It's been a little over a year since my Mog lost his fight against cancer, and I had to let him go.
