I have heard wondeful things about Dalmore, but have been forbidden to buy my self a bottle until after my birthday next month. It is the whisky I most desire to try (how could I not with the stag from the MacKenzie clan on the bottle). Either way I will have a bottle in my collection within one month's time.

Hang on Todd, Highland park is the highest distillery, but do you mean altitude or latitude?
Highland Park in on Orkney.
I've found most visits to distilleries dissappointing in Scotland. All they want to do is take you on a tour, when, especially on a tight time schedule, all I want to do is taste the stuff!! I don't need to know everything about the history of the distillery.
Of course, that's how they make the money from tourists.

Last time I was in my local, the guy was urging me to try that brand, I promised I'd buy it next.
...and you're right about the chocolate, although I would stick to a darker bitter-sweet. I had some 87% cocoa dark chocolate that was out of this world. I discovered that trick by accident one night; I couldn't believe how well just a very small chip of dark chocolate, melted on the tongue before a sip, complimented the scotch.

As soon as I finish this bottle of Dewar's 12 (I know, it's a blend, but it is good) I'm going to get a bottle of Dalmore. I am anxious to try it.

So true, Iolaus. I have tried this with other people who have yet to acquire a taste for whisky. I remember sharing some Glenlivet 12 with my oldest. I had him try some good bitter-sweet chocolate with his drink. Next morning the bottle had as much as the night before, but the chocolate was all gone!

The smoothiest, I've ever tasted is Tullamore Dew. Neat of course.

The smoothest I've had is the Macallan 18. Of course, it's become quite pricy these last few years, but the Mac 12 and Cask Strength are much more affordable and almost as good.
