I was on a bike run to Chillicothie Ohio for the Easyrider Grand National Bike Rodeo, it's about a ten hour ride from Toronto to Chillicothe if you're really pushing the motorcycle, anyway we had a great long weekend but woke up on the Sunday morning to the sound of a hurricane outside the tent. We packed up the tents and I got on the motorcycle and the ex and her daughter got in the car.
A pack of us rode until we got to Erie PA. still a long enough ride to the border but a bit closer. So we get to Erie PA. and decide to rent rooms for the night as the weather was not getting any better, however we have to go out to eat so the pack of bikes leaves the holiday Inn parking lot headed for downtown Erie, I'm on the inside so we take the turn, it's dark mind you, and I hit the island/median and the motorcycle goes down on top of me.
I pick up the bike with the help of the ex, and we find out that a week earlier a racing bike had knocked down the reflective sign on the island. Well I get the bike up it's not bad no real damage, and I'm a bit hurt but still hungry so we take off to for the food. In the morning I'm stiff and sore and a good 4-5 hours from home, so I called in and said I would not be there, my boss says
"You better get in or else"
so I tell him
"I'm calling in out of the country"
Well he was fuming but there was nothing he could do I was in a different country.
