Soon after I became aware I had extensive Scottish heritage, a coworker of my wife's burned me a Tartanic CD and my obsession began.
So, some months later, they were at the KC ren fest and I approached Adrian, the front man. I told him that he and his band were a huge reason I had delved into my heritage and how excited I was about learning more about it, etc. He smiled huge and hugged me. "God bless ya, lad," he said.
I asked him what part of Scotland he's from, and in a thick burr, he whispered, "I'm from Houston."
Ummm... so what's up with the accent?
"I'm a master thespian."
I thought it was hilarious. I love these guys.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

Wow... I'd never heard of these folks before, but after listening to the sound clip I'm already hooked!

Or perhaps Lucy Lu (sp?) in a mini kilt.

Tartanic was at the Texas Ren Fest, too. They've gone through some personnel changes as is usually the case. Adrian, the spokesman and bodhran beater, is the longest running current member that I can remember.

The fashion inventions of the 1960s would hardly look contemporary in 1912.
