    Tartan Tweed kilt

This is what I wore to work today.

I made this kilt from some Harris Tweed cloth that I purchased recently. From the small swatch I saw before I bought, I thought it might be some kind of weathered color variation of a MacKenzie tartan or the like. However, when the full peice came I soon discovered that it is not a named tartan at all -- in fact the warp is subtly different than the weft (the light and dark greys are reversed). So I made myself a quick 4 yard box pleated kilt from it, and wore it today with my Harris tweed shooting jacket, matching Ferguson Britt bonnet, Ferguson Britt sporran, and Royal Cuff hose. This is my newest FB sporran, and I cannot recall if I've shown pictures of it on the forum before. I don't really have any good pics that do it justice, really.

Anyway, all this Harris tweed kept me nice and warm on this chilly December day.

    Just call me Mr. Tweedy!

Good look McTweedy, I'm sure you'll enjoy both the kilt and sporran.

    Best,

Yes, he's working on a line with half-hexagon cantles instead of round. The one I have is called the "Ben Glass" model, but it's basically the Inverarnan body with a half-hex top.

It will be some time before all the different styles are photographed and listed individually on our web site, but in the meantime you can order any round-cantle style you want, leather or fur, and just request with your order a half-hex top and we'll have it made that way for you.

He's also working on a half-octagon style top.

    Here's the order page, again:
