Montrose Doublet without Jabot

Hey about those loops the Montrose I have also has to hooks on elastics on the inside back? Any idea what they are for?

I have been told by Hamish that these are to attach the doublet to the kilt, a matching set is sewn into the kilt, that way there is no fear of the doublet and the kilt separating to show any unsightly underclothes.
