Ruche ties?

Thanks, Sionnach. I'm aware that they can be found on the Internet. My posting was to indicate that they do not seem to be as popular anymore. The formal wear haberdasher said that they used to rent them, then sold them off a while back. This seemed odd to me because I thought they were relatively new fashion. I still like them, but they apparently have gone the way of the banded-color shirt, already...or, this store is out of touch.

They are to "fashion" what last weeks fish is to "fresh"-- they had their 15 minutes of fashion fame, and now fashion has moved on to something else.

I believe it was Oscar Wilde who said something like "The trouble with trying to look fashionable is that one is apt to end up being anything but fashionable."

I'll not be caught alive in one of those things and will fervently hope that my family sees to it that I'm not seen in one when I'm dead, either.

He also said "Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months." he was generous to give things 6 months, they only get 15 minutes today.

Though I don't yet have a clear idea of what a ruche really is, I do remember generally what a ascot and a cravat are. I think I would choose a cravat.

Oscar Wilde said or wrote a whole lot of things I disagree with, but I have to agree with this one. I've tried to read up on what is and is not "in" on a lot of the men's fashion web sites. I do not buy into that stuff anymore, and try to keep everything basic.
