Because this has become an over-commercialized and never ending show of excess. Christmas has next to no religious meaning for me and I would hazard a guess that it has no religious meaning for a significant number of the population.

Since my wife is Jewish, I prefer the simplicity of Hanukkah at this time of the year.

And this community is also family to me!

Because my German shepherd has no clue what day Christmas or New Years falls on, and only cares about the 4th of July when the entire Continental United States tries to light their neighborhood on fire or shoot holes in the moon He hates the noise and looks to me for support much like this site supports my kilting habit.

Had to work Christmas Eve, today (Christmas), and tomorrow (Boxing Day) because that's the work schedule i have (Monday thru Friday) and because crime doesn't take a vacationor holidays.

I'll have Xmas with my family on Saturday.
