This verse was officially removed from "God Save The Queen" sometime prior to WWI if I am not mistaken.

Scotland Already Has A National Anthem
For those of you only recently arrived on the scene, and unaware of Wendy Wood, et al, let me advise you that Scotland's national anthem is "Scots Wha' Hae"-- and has been for a long, long, time.
"Flower of Scotland" might be okay for a football/rugby anthem, but it fails miserably when compared to "Scots Wha' Hae'" in terms of representing the Scot's love of liberty. Even "Hail Caledonia", which extols the virtues of Scotland's rugged grandeur, better represents the Scottish nation than a song that wallows in defeatism and wishful thinking.
Nothing against the Corries-- BUT-- they haven't a patch on Robert Burns.

That article says that there is no Scottish national anthem. I do like Scots Wha' Hae, but I like Flower of Scotland even more as a national anthem...then again, it is not up to me at all!

I note that the article makes no mention of Scots Wha hae...
I only remember Wendy Wood from when she went on a hunger strike back in the 1970s but cannot remember what it was over without googling.
Oh yes for Scottish Home Rule but she stopped it after promise of a referendum...

Besides being offensive, the verse had long been redundant as Marshal Wade died in 1748 and he never did anything to save a Queen regnant between 1745 and his demise.
