Wichita, for those scoring at home.
Yeah, we're in a tornado watch here in Shawnee County until 5 a.m.
The older I get, the more the cheesy cliche seems to apply: If you don't like the weather in Kansas, just give it five minutes. It'll change.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

Not just Kansas, fellows. We have the same thing here in the cornpatch. It didn't get to 67F only 58, yesterday evening, at 7. Freezing rain and 28 at the moment this morning. I am glad I don't have to go anywhere. The roads are gonna be BAD. I hope it doesn't last long enough to cause power problems.

happened in Ohio too. Just one bolt of lightning though. Supposed to be near 70 today, might set a record, though the previous record was over 100 years ago, so don't dare blame global warming. (I'd wear my kilt today, but they are predicting 40 MPH winds. Neither of mine are that heavy!)

I may not be going to Columbia as I had planned.

[QUOTE=Rogerson785;646003]Only in Kansas! Snow on Christmas Eave, 67 degrees the day after Christmas and thunder, lighting and rain the night after Christmas, glad I am counting down the days to my departure from this crazy meteorological state.
But then, Toto, you won't be in Kansas any more,

I basically grew up in Wichita, lived in Des Moines for 14 years and moved out here to Colorado. You can say the same about all three places, if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes. Yesterday, we had a beautiful sunrise with very few clouds. A snowstorm at 8:15 for about 20 minutes and then partly cloudy and 45F for a high. Right now at 8 AM it's 9F with a high predicted...well, GUESSED of 30F for the day.

Where do you think all of our "crazy" weather in Missouri comes from?
Still, I rather appreciate it at times -- it certainly makes us Midwesterners a hardy bunch.

A fine point, Todd !
At least the ice is only about 1/4" thick, and now it is snowing, instead of more ice.
I had a friend in Medicine Hat AB a few years back (He has moved since, a couple of times). Anyway, in the winter, I could often get as accurate a three day outlook from talking to him on the phone as from the weather forecasters here. This winter has not been like that as much as usual. I think perhaps "climate change" might be a better term. But then, what is normal wether, anyway ? Pretty hard to say here in the midwest, which is how we started out.
Did you go to Columbia, Wally ?
