The Best Gifts
The best gift was being with my family for Christmas. The second was a DVD my wife gave me entitled, The Book of Kells, The Work of Angels?

Santa was most excellent this year. New Braemar jacket from the parents. A new celtic knotwork day sporran that arrived with my daughters mini kilts from John Paul and his staff at tartanweb/scottishkilts.net. We went to my parents my 2 younger daughters wearing their new kilts and I in mine. (can't persuade my wife to get one she's of Ukrainian ancestry). Hope everyone had a good Christmas

First, she made me two band collar shirts with a little extra length. Both are silk but one is a silk broadcloth and the other is a silk and linen blend. I got a black one with a white collar and a cream one (in the photo).
Then she made me a Jacobite blue bonnet--knitted and felted--and a white satin cockade (from a photo and illustration here on this forum...thank you very much).
And lastly, after a lot of research and many mistakes that had to be taken out, she made me a singleton and a third (didn't get it done in time for Christmas) of tartan hose to match my kilt.
I also got a small round "sporran" flask from my daughter.
Here you can see the shirt, bonnet and hose:
and this photo shows the hose a little more closely:
Still holding out hope for a P-37 battle dress.
Your wife did a fine job on your argyle hose.

Santa did however get me a very nice black fleece vest, which I will wear with my kilts throughout the winter and fall. I like the look of a kilt and a vest. Thank you Santa Joan!

History - My mother was a serious quilter. She had an amazing "stash" of gorgeous fabrics. When she passed, most of the fabrics went with my sister to Virginia, with me keeping only a few special pieces.
Christmas day I opened the package from my sister of a huge hand sewn quilt, by my sister of fabrics that we both adored from Mom's "stash". Itcontains some Celtic designs and a centerpiece in the form of a MacNeil "tartan". My mother's heritage of which we are both proud.
Rocky - I may have to buy some more tartan - to make my sister a tartan skirt. Will keep you posted.

Got a great Aran Sweater and a new watch from my wife, and a shilelagh from my dad. Apparently it is made by a guy in Ireland out of hickory and blackthorn root, and this design is the same one that was made for President's Kennedy, Reagan and Clinton.

Oh, and for myself, I bought a new kilt from Stillwater - weathered McKenzie:
I bought it before I found out about my job, but couldn't bring myself to send it back.

I've seen that DVD in Gael Song's cataloge and have been wanting to get a copy of it myself. Have you had the chance to look at it yet? There certainly is some amazing artwork in the Book of Kells.

On Sportster, On Fatbob, on Softtail, on V-rod...
It was a H-D Christmas for me, with a new sweat shirt, highway pegs, and a gift cert to purchase most of a pair of engine guards, from my sweet wife who indulges my motorcycle addiction. And a couple of great books of cat stories from my Mum in law. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
