I'll be there for sure, Bill! I'm really looking forward to it and to seeing you guys again.
I was going to kill two birds and look at staying at the GPI, but decided differently when I saw room rates from $320-$745 for the night! And they're not dog friendly, either! Oh, well. The Holiday Inn will have us!
I've never been to a concert there - is it reserved or all general admission? Bar available?

My understanding is that there is a reserved area for the people that are there for the "Celtic Weekend" package, and general admission for the rest of the schlubs. There is alcohol available in several different areas within GPI...not sure of the actual set-up in the concert room, but I'm betting that you can wet your whistle with a minimum of bother (and a maximum of cash).
Look for a PM from me..

If anyone wants to put together a kilted hike that Saturday morning, and maybe a pub run before the show, I'd be very up for that.

I like that idea. PM me and we'll figure out where. I know a few places close by, as I'm sure you do.

I'm looking into it... the budget is tight right now, but I think I can make it work. I'm definitely in for a pub run beforehand even if I can't make the concert. Keep me in the loop!

Sorry, chaps, but I won't be available for the hike, after all. I'm booked elsewhere that day. However, let's put together another hike in the WNC area.

For you new X-Markers in the area, I direct the outdoor program for Montreat Conference Center every summer, where kilted hiking is my daily gig (unless I need to use the chain saw). Montreat is associated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and so guys in kilts hardly get noticed there at all. We had an official X-Marks kilted hike and brewery tour the summer before last; somehow never got one off the ground last year.
Anyway, I'm up for leading hikes in our 3,000 acre watershed (30 miles of trails) anytime. If you are ever in the area and want to take a walk in the woods, give me a call.
