Some of the comments are entertaining. They don't speak well for the education of our populace though.

Notwithstanding that it's another example of increasing kilt-consciousness, I have to agree with MOR. It's the OTK hose more than anything else, along with the purse. Who needs one of those when you have huge cargo pockets?
I wonder if Utilikilts would want to showcase this look in one of their galleries.

If he lost the beanie and sporran and scrunched his socks down to the boot tops he might look a little better. However, it's good to see kilt going mainstream.
The majority of the comments in the link were very positive especially the one from Katie with the link to FK.

yeah, I didn't like the overall look, mostly the socks, and the man purse. Sure, if it was his GF's and he was holding it, or a camera bag, but nooooo. Still though, my wife seemed entertained.

I have to disagree with you sathor, the purse was crap indeed but for the rest it was very fashionable. Especially with the popularity of the Japanese-anime-like-clothing rising, this seems a good way to introduce the kilt to the common public.
For the socks - they are awesome with it, no need to strip em or w/e. T'is not meant to be scottish, just tried to give it a little scottish touch it seems.
The boots on the other hand suck.
Tis hard finding fashion-accepted boots for kilts though.

I like solid colored socks, personally. I can kinda see your 'anime' point though.

Looks like it's a Utilikilt-the "gateway kilt" as I call it.
Be well,

We took the family to see the film of Twilight, and less than a week later my wife and daughter (11) went to see it again while my son and I watched The Day The Earth Stood Still (which, BTW was good, but not a patch on the original). Our son (15) has read the Twilight books.
I think the ladies are fixated on the guy who plays the lead male character, Edward. I can't even place which character this guy played! (Which is not good as it's only a couple of weeks ago I saw it). Probably my daughter could tell me. Apparently they all think he's hot as well.
As for the critique of the outfit, there was one poster on there called Chicklet who first mentionned that she didn't like his hat, and I'd have to agree, but I'd say he looks OK otherwise.
When it comes right down to it, I don't suppose he cares what other men think of how he's dressed, so our opinion isn't worth very much. Apparently the ladies who like him dressed like that far outnumber those who don't, which is what really matters, and a large number don't even care what he wears. I think one or two implied that his clothes were a bit mismatched, but who among us has never had a woman say that about us? If we're honest, they usually have a better sense of how to put clothes together than we do.
I didn't even notice the purse until someone there posted a comment on it. I would never carry one myself, but a large part of that is I know I would wind up accidentally leaving it behind somewhere with my money/keys/cash card, etc.
