I'm no too happy wih the saddle shop sraps. He only had chap leather which is suede texture on one side. He also did kind of crappy job of cutting the leather

Ah my friend, very rarely do you find that the price and the quality are at odds - and truly is it said that you get what you pay for.
The suede effect is easily reduced by application water and wax polish, by the way, if that will improve things.
The third strap requires that there is what is termed 'ease' in the circumference of the kilt so that there is enough room for the changes in the body as it sits, leans, slouches or accommodates large dinners.
It might be that, with that ease, the kilt is actually loose when the wearer is standing in front of the mirror early in the day, so the strap is tightened up to fit the slim standing figure, and the apron then takes the strain later.

I had ordered the Highland Express Straps and buckles as well and they are excellent. They will be perfect. Thanks for the suggestion.
