    Question 1): I was not able to find black double pronged buckles. Is it a no-no to replace the original buckles with new silver colored ones? My feeling is I want to make this a usable kilt, not necessary to be historically accurate. Comments?
    Question 2): Is there a way to find info on the original owner? The tag indicates he was a musician (musn) by the name of Griffiths.
    Thanks for your help.

    There is a NATO Stock No. 8405-99-130-8723.

    At the bottom of the tag it says
    Thomas Gordon & Sons
    ST2B/2524
    (BC271039)

    No other numbers other than measurements.

    Hi Fudgeman and All,

    NATO Stock No. 8405-99-130-8723

    8405 = Article of clothing

    99 = Manufactured in the British Isles (up to 1985 that included the Irish Republic - I believe it is now excluded)

    Regards

    Chas
