Cynthia - I have size 13 shooes and large calves. I find the Brewin 9 1/2 - 13 hose too small, but their extra large are just fine. I'm wearing a pair as I type this. Only problem with extra large is the color range is limited.

Ah! Thanks so much! He wears about a size 13, I believe. I still need to measure his calves, but this is all good to know

WBSocks
Cynthia, I am 6'6" with a size 15 foot. The WBSocks in extra large are great! Like another poster said this size is limited on color selection. I have purchased Lovat Green and Lovat Blue, and they tell me they shortly will have Navy. If I can wear them, I'm sure that your husband can. The seller has outstanding service btw. Hope to see you at the Irish festival.
Regards, Ken

Cynthia,
What you also need to keep an eye out for is a nice pair of walking shoes.
One's with good soles and support yet classy looks that befit kilted day wear.
Once the hose and shoes are dealt with we shall discuss walking sticks and pocket squares!
Cheers

Cynthia.
I've got a few pairs of the WBSocks in assorted colours and they are perfectly OK. I'm a size 11 UK - size 12 US. I don't have thin legs either but haven't had a problem with them. If you're worried go for the XL size as suggested previously.
If your hubby is intending to wear the Kilt infrequently then 1 or 2 pairs is a good bet but if you intend to get him into the Kilt alot then consider thier 4, 5, or 6 pair multi-buy option to save even more cash. You can get these in different colours at the website checkout. I'd suggest you get a single pair first though to establish whether they fit well and you both like them.
Stick with it darlin'. There are tough times ahead for us all but I'm sure we'll get through it.

Thanks so much, everyone! It can be such a pain, trying to order things online. I've always been the sort who preferred to buy things in person so I can be sure of the fit. It's so nice to have a lot of people who can offer reviews and tips for purchases when you're not certain. Gotta love this board! Thanks!
McMurdo & Panache: Ha!! I definitely want to get hubby a sgian dubh and sgian don't. As far as hats, I'm determined to get him a balmoral someday, even if he claims he isn't into hats and probably wouldn't wear one. Definitely a walking stick, as well as some nice hiking boots and other comfy-but-nice shoes for kilted walks!
kscaddo: I'm hoping we can make it to NTIF. I'm crossing my fingers for Saturday, but still haven't chatted with Christopher to see if we are free that weekend and which day we should go. I'm not sure if you've seen the thread, but I have posted one in the events section to see who all is going. Here it is.
