Sounds neat. Actually, from what I have come to understand, having a plaid that is older and not the exact match to the kilt is traditional, and maybe even preferable.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I'm not kidding about that either. Both MacMillan of Rathdown and Jock Scot have stated that it only need be the same clan tartan, and matching up colors does not really matter. I also gather the plaid having a history makes it even better in a traditionalist sense.
I kind of understand what they mean now.
