Admittedly, real CADPAT is illegal in civilian hands (something to do with unique IR qualities), but there are already manufacturers making legal CADPAT copies. I'd still like to see a kilt made of the knock-off material.
I have a set of genuine CADPAT bdu's . The real stuff isn't illegal, per say. The stuff being sold to civilians as genuine CADPAT is in fact genuine. The reason some of it is allowed to be sold to the civilian market is because of slight "imperfections" in the bolt. The imperfection simply means that the color is not up to military spec. There are no imperfections that I can see in my bdu's. This is how it was explained to me by the dealer I bought mine from. You can easily tell if the cadpat you're looking at is fake or not, assuming you've held the real stuff. The real deal is more breathable than any other tactical clothing I've worn, and the camo itself almost seems to be able to "chameleon" its base color to whatever natural color surrounds it. Awesome stuff.

Be perturbed if you like, but one of the great things about an online community like this one is that our experiences with vendors matter to one another.
Let me ask a question to all those who talk about my site ......lmao..
how many of you are wearing a UtiliKilt, or a 2-5yrd Casual kilt?... I wear a real Kilt and to wear the Black Watch after serving with them I'm very proud to do so.
Here at XMTS, we honor those who serve their country, but we also respect the choices that people have in the kind of kilts they would wear. I happen to have in my closet everything from Utilikilts to hand-sewn heavy wool kilts, and at this very moment I'm wearing a casual kilt by one of our advertisers. By l-ing your a o, you've just guaranteed that I will never do business with you.
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Of course we are going to talk to each other about your website. If you hadn't joined the rabble, one of us would have bought something from you, and then reported to the rest of us about the quality of your goods and especially the customer service. Then we will either treat this information as a warning or a green light.
That's how we roll on XMarks.

Ooooh, but how I hate that expression! lol. Nevertheless, I just wanted to agree with Barry -- retailer reviews are a pretty major part of this community. I've definitely put up a few reviews myself, and have read many others. (In fact, I have my own restaurant review website that covers local establishments).... Anyway... There are LOTS of reviews here on XTMS. One thing that I can say, is that I wouldn't count on people necessarily sending questions by e-mail just to find out what a company is or isn't about.
The stats really do speak for themselves. There are nearly 8,000 members here, heralding from all corners of the globe. There are a mind-boggling 1,700 visits from members in a 24-hour period alone, and we are currently being spidered by no less than 20 bots including Google. That means, that probably before long, you'll be able to use keywords in Google to find even this thread. Scary, innit?
Anyway, the point is, it is indeed anybody's right to be perturbed, however in the "new economy" a retailer's justification for being so doesn't add up to a hill of beans. Being "right" is overrated anyway (whether you're a retailer or a customer). It's only normal to be protective and defensive if someone seems to attack your business, (and to feel slighted) but that's just the nature of the beast. Shouldn't be in retail if you don't have a rhino hide. The key to successful marketing is to never lose your smile & shine, no matter what. You can't afford to lose your cool when you're competing directly against countless other companies that can match or even beat what you have to offer.
Again, I never said that I wouldn't give a new company a chance -- and that applies even now. So far, other than a startling reply by Allscottish.ca's owner, there is little to go on here that would stop anyone from buying anything from them (other than noting that the website looked a wee bit dubious)... But the ball's in their court now. How they choose to deal with the commentary and feedback they receive from the rabble here and now will certainly have future impact for them.

Hi, thanks for asking,
Like I said my website is a work in progress and it's questions like your's will only make it better, We're in Carleton Place Ontario,
My store front is actually an extension to my house on the Mississippi river, just out side Ottawa, I'm planning on going to the Maxville Scottish Highland games/gathering this year.
As for Drop/Length, most of my Kilts that I sell are made to measure so in answer to our question yes I can have any size made and still deliver within 21 working days. On eBay I have it at 14 days unless I have to have the kilt specially made.

I won an eBay auction for a kilt from this seller about ten days ago. (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=320338833833) Before bidding I questioned the $40 shipping charge for a domestic (in Canada) delivery. He replied promptly and offered to reduce it to $25- so I ended up getting the kilt for just over $100 CAN. I guess this was a custom order that the seller got stuck with. It was just my luck that the measurements were so close to my own. I'll post a review when it arrives.
I've kilt for less.
