ok I've seen this mentoned a few times so I'm curious but why would someone not wear a pc to a wedding? I remember my auntie's (I think) wedding years ago I would have been 10 ish I think but I remember getting forced to wear a shirt and bow tie with a pc and that wedding was in the day with the reception at night

It simply goes back to the old rules regarding etiquette and dress. It used to be that a tuxedo was not worn before 6, and well the Prince Charlie is the Highland equivalent to a tuxedo. Is it a big deal? I think in North America it does not make as big a splash as it would in Scotland, or even England. At my twin Brother's wedding we all wore the Prince Charlie jacket, the piper however wore a Tweed Argyll jacket with a Hunting Sporran and a Masonic tie, he looked wonderful.
