Wearing a kilt in the carribean
Hi folks - newcomer to the forum, but not to kilts. I've worn a kilt on several occasions for formal (and not so formal) do's and would love to do so for a friends wedding coming up in a few months time. The issue is it's in the carribean and will be slightly too warm to wear jacket etc. So the question is - what would you reccomend to wear on the top half?
Thanks

It depends on what others are wearing. If it's like a typical tropical wedding, everyone will be in shirt sleeves, or even short sleeve shirts, so dress the same.

Wow, thanks for the speedy reply Dave. People will be in anything from linen jackets to shirt sleeves - jsut wondering what would look good with a kilt on it's own. It's an Anderson tartan that I'd be wearing so is quite colourful so would you say a plain white shirt would be best?

Just one fat, old man's opinion..............................
White shirt, open collar, sleeves rolled up to mid-arm (between wrist and elbow). I've done this and find it to look a touch dressy but still comfortable.

I'd say a linen kilt jacket... wait, never heard of one of those. You could modify a jacket though.
Otherwise, hawaiian shirt?

I agree with davedove, I worn my kilts with anything from tanktops to shirt, tie, and argyle jacket(no PC yet) and everything in between. Nice thing abut kilts is you can dress 'em up or down.

I wear my kilts when we are in st.maartin on vacation. pleace feel free to go on my profile, and check out the album.
On the french, or duch side of the island people get a kick out of a man in a kilt. Although I usualy go casual (tee shirt ) a light dress shirt and tie with thinner hose would be fine. Just touring around, I loose kilt hose and flashes, and a good pair of sandles or flipflops are the stuff! The bottem line is dress for event and warm temperatures.
