Wool Kilts for Someone on a budget

I will first qualify my post with the statement that I have never personally ordered from this site, but since they specialize in servicing pipe bands I think it would be reasonable to assume they probably would make a decent kilt. The second caveat is that they do not specifically describe the manufacture or style of their kilts, but I would say again it is a good betthey make traditional 8 yard kilts, albeit probably machine sewn, considering the price. Probably worth at least a look at the web site and maybe a friendly inquiring email to get more info. But they list a long string of 13oz tartans, including some pretty rare ones, all for the same price in a kilt at 170GBP or $238us plus shipping. Give them a look---it might work out for you. I could think of a few I might like to order, but right now am already overstocked with fabric waiting to be built into works of art, and my wife would have a cow if I ordered more kilts right now.

I would recommend looking about for a used kilt. Surely there are people looking to empty a bit of their wardrobe in these times- hopeful people in your size with the same last name!

I have looked at Stillwater, but he only has the blackwatch. Plus, from the picture he shows, it looks like 120 dollar wool kilt.

This was the first thing I thought of. As long as it is in colors I like, I would buy it. However, I have not been able to find a 36 inch used kilt as of yet. I keep looking however.

What price glory. The link is to the Gordon Highlander which is the cheapest at $195 but there are others, all military pattern up to $315. Type 'Kilt' in the search box to find the rest.

Haven't got one myself but there has been alot of discussion (mainly very good) on here about them.

The Scottish Tartans Museum right now has a 36" waist kilt in the Young tartan, ever so slightly used (I think the owner said he wore it 5 times before he outgrew it!). $350 includes a pair of matching flashes. This was custom woven heavy weight woolen cloth.

We also have an heirloom Blue Stewart kilt with matching flashes, medium weight, only worn once for one of Lochcarron's photo shoots. I haven't managed to add this one to our specials page yet, so I'm going by memory for the size, though I beleive it is a 35" waist. Price is similar to the Young kilt, above. It's a 13 oz, pleated to sett. Same one as pictured here:
