Warning! Warning! Big mikey post!
As most of the more senior members are aware, I am anything but quiet, shy and subdued. At any time or place, I standout. So why would I want to wear a kilt that is so out there that ladies and gents are left speechless? Because I am Big Mikey!
Now, onto the good stuff. I was fortunate enough to be gifted with a few dollars at Christmas. "What to buy....." thinks I. "A new kilt perhaps?" So off to the web to look around. The lovely CAWFH suggested something casual, lowrise, maybe in a lighter material than my tartans. So I show her what is available from our own Wolfgore at Celtic Warrior Kilts.
She agreed with me that the style of kilt Gary makes looked nice and she also quite liked the "cheese makers smock" that he has made by Heather.
After looking over all the options, "we" decided that this was the way to go.
I called Gary and gave him my ideas and he thought the finished product would be really great. Now, I must say that Gary was great to work with as far as details. We talked about material, construction and colour until we were both sure of what was to be done. Gary is particular about the quality of his product. It took him a couple of weeks to find just the right material for my kilt and he had to make a day trip to the Oregon coast to get it!
Heather was equally as easy to work with. She e-mailed me detailed instructions on how to measure for my shirt and had a few ideas of her own on how to make the shirt unique but still match the kilt.
Yeah, yeah! We're getting to the pics!
The kilt is very well constructed. The stitching is robust without being obviously visable. The waist secures with velcro and fits perfectly. The matching sporran is a good size and is of equal quality.
The "cheese makers smock" is a light cotton material that should be very comfortable in warm weather. It was made kilt length and the fit is great. Though it was made to go with the CWK, I can see wearing it with my saffron or NightStalker as well.
And now...........................................The Unveiling!
I should mention that the kilt is being worn straight out of the box. It was shipped rolled, no folds. Just a bit of a shake and VOILA!
Needless to say, this is what I wore last night to the pub and I received no end of compliments from both ladies and gents and even a few enquiries about ordering.
I know that this is not to everyones taste but damn, I like it!!

Well it's better than 'pink death' but only just, IMHO.
