Do you really got a scottish heart?

Mst of us here on xmarks have some relation to Scotland, but what is it that really makes you scottish besides the family. For me I have the stinginess. But what is your story?

I'll begin with my two best stories that bouth is from when i was a child.

    1. Me and my sister went together to a carnival or something other festice. We bouth got £5 from our parents, and we bouth had equal fun. The difference however was that in the end of the day she was broke, and I had £8 in my pocket.
    2. When I was a kid I used to have stuff that I made at school on a shelf at home. When christmas or a birthday came I took one of the crafted items and wraped it in, put on a name, and gave it to someone. They might had been looking at it for half a year, but then it was christmas and they got it as a christmas present.

That's my first two storys that puts me in the line of stinginess scots, so what's your story?

We'll I can be stingy, except when it comes to my grog, only quality there.

I am the type that if one of the few people I call friend needs something, if it is in my power to do, it's done. I've also been known to extend that hospitality to strangers on occasion.

It's strange a country known for being stingy is also known for it's hospitality.

It's called frugal. I got it from my dad, who got it from his dad, who got it from...

chattencat has got it right, FRUGAL,not stingy or cheap,FRUGAL. I don't buy anything at the first price I see,I look around for a deal, and I ALWAYS ask if they can do better on the asking price. If you don't ask - you don't get.

I am not afraid to spend money on something that is worth it, but when I buy something it is almost always at a great discounted price. My wife tells me I always find the one off unique super deals, and brags to our friends about it. She has even gone so far as to offer my shopping services to friends who are looking to buy a new car, high-end bicycle, furniture, etc... so that they can get the best deal.

Probably one of the reasons I am frequently posting some of the good kilt related deals I find while I am surffing the kilt sites on the net.

Oh, I am also quite cantankerous and can be cranky and short. Scottish traits?

My wife constantly laughs at me for spending real money on a kilt, but insisting on shopping at the charity shops for shirts. I will also spend real money on tools, and shoes, but with an eye toward durability and quality.

Real frugality is buying the best you can afford, and having it last for a long time.

That's my Scottish Heart chest tattoo....

Also learned from depression era grandparents and parents to buy quality for the value.

Can be a grumpy old Scotsman too - like my grandfather Murdoch...and be like my great grandfather who was said to have a short fuse and a quick fist...

And for sure had too much of a taste for booze....

    And bagpipes stir my blood...
