    The Hasty Heart

This is a great b/w movie (in the old tradition) from 1949, staring Richard Todd, Patricia Neal, and Ronald Reagan. The main plot is one of true friendship transforming the feelings of an emotionally scarred Scottish soldier who, un-beknownst to himself, is dying. The secondary running gag is about the rest of his fellow soldiers at the hospital trying to see what he wears under the kilt. As one reviewer on Amazon put it "It is a moving and emotional film". I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    The Hasty Heart...

Great movie! I especially like Richard Todd as the Cameron Highlanders piper. Todd, btw, was on Normandy at Peagsus Bridge, and later played Major John Howard, who was in command of his unit in "The Longest Day".

It's been a while since I've seen "The Hasty Heart", have to hunt my copy up & watch it again soon.

    Cheers,

    Todd

I want to thank you guys. I've been thinking about this movie since I saw it on late night TV almost 40 years ago while baby-sitting my siblings. All I could remember was that there was a Scottish solder who was sick, and whose compatriots were always trying to find out what he wore (or didn't) under his kilt. Your description of the movie and its title rang memory bells for me! Now I've got a used copy on order. Thanks!
