Super pics, Derek, looked like a fabulous trip.
The views of the U-boat pens were particularly interesting and poignant. The RAF put a lot of time and effort into "gardening" i.e. laying mines off the coast of Lorient to try to keep the U-boats at bay. My wife Ann had a relative who was shot down and killed, at the age of 21, near Lorient while piloting a Hampden on one of these gardening sorties. He was an only child, Canadian born of Scots parentage, who lived in Toronto and he had volunteered to serve in the RAF because of his Scots ancestry.

It seems some of you still do not believe me! I wasn't ME who kept wanting to stop for a beer or food! I have been used here; I am a scapegoat for those too ashamed to admit their weaknesses. As I said, I was obliged to go along with every suggestion made by others or I'd have been in danger of not being handed my ticket for the final jouney home last Monday!
My own photos of the events have not turned out very well and there are not many of them anyway - yes, I know: too busy eating and drinking to take photos! Ha, ha! Very funny - NOT!
The truth is that I seem to have video-ed far more with my camcorder than I snapped with my wee digital still camera. There may be a way of saving still images from the video so I will look into that shortly. Meanwhile, I'm off to start packing for my next trip - to Palm Springs, California in three days time!

Hamish, it's a dirty job but someone had to do it...Right. Terrific pics of an apparent well fed and watered trip. Palm Springs next Hamish ??? Perhaps you will be less put upon in the refreshment area,(yeh,right). Have a good and safe journey.
