The book was published in 1999. The photograph of Maclean of Dunconnel, though, must have been taken prior to his death in 1996.

I thought the same thing. I'd love to have a vest like that and have been thinking that if I were to get serious about sewing my own clothes, that's where I'd start.

I'm not sure (says the guy with the colorful MacCreary tartarn) that I could pull off that much flash in most situations I would see myself in, but it's an awesome ensemble, nonetheless.

    Rex.

A lot of great looks there! They all look quite dashing, though I must say, the Marquess of Huntly and the late Sir Donald Cameron of Lochiel are my favorites.

Great photos. Nice to see such a variety of dress when we tend to lean toward the homogonized look.

I wonder what thoughts are going through their heads at that moment. impressive photo's! I wonder what kind of men they are. They dress the part but I wonder if they walk the walk?

I can personally speak of three, in the pictures above and by reputation speak for the others. Yes they do/did "walk the walk" in some style. Speaking of "the three", they have served their country way beyond the call of duty, in some hair raising escapades. They served their clan and their fellow men with great effort and effect and if they were able to read this they would just shrug their shoulders and be slightly embarrassed. Make no mistake, they "walk the walk".

I meant no disrespect of course. Having not met the men I have no idea of their caliber. It's hard to gauge a person just by photo's. In this day and age we have "respectable" men, bilking billions from the common folks. So take my question with a grain of salt. Having viewed many of your posts and sorta knowing what sort of man you are I do not doubt they are honest to goodness men of substance. I appologize if I raised any hackles
