Kilt belt keepers
I just discovered that my wide kilt belt has two loops that are moveable on the belt but do not unsnap. Are these for looks, or do I run my sporran belt thru these? They look like the belt keepers that cops use to keep their duty rig attached to their pants belt. Any answers? Thanks.

I have a black leather SWK belt, it also has two of these "keepers" as you call them. I've always simply positioned them to the left and right sides of the buckle; simply cosmetic. I can't imagine they have any real purpose. I would certainly rule out the sporran strap idea. That is what the two belt loops on your kilt are for (from what I've always been told.)

Yes, what Bradley said. If these are what I think you are describing they should be pushed hard up against the ends of the belt where the leather folds over. If you have a fold at only one end, both should be there. They keep the folded leather as flat as possible.

That's a pretty good idea (putting both on one fold if it's folded at only one end.) I guess the symetrics are what swayed me to do it: one on each side. I may try this and see if I like how it looks or if I'm gonna feel uneven.

One on each side of the buckle.
Some belts, you will notice the keepers are two different sizes, one for the double layer, one for the single layer.

Mine are one on each side.
