    I found the "checkerboard" pattern of the Glengarry to be a bit much. I have a Glengarry in the Muir tartan (matches the kilt). When worn with a Prince Charlie jacket looks just right and not overdone.

    That is known as "dicing", and is worn by a number of Scottish regiments in the Commonwealth.
