Wow Barb, that's a cool looking sporran and chain set!

We had it made for our daughter (who is a piper) when she commissioned as a lieutenant in the Air Force. The tartan is the Air Force tartan.

If you don't mind my asking, how/who does one commission a custom sporran chain through?

I ordered Carolyn's through Caledonia Fine Arts in Connecticut. They do (or at least used to do) custom military sporran sets. Came with a belt (with custom badge on the buckle), sporran (with custom badge on the cantle), sporran chain, and kilt pin. I don't know if they are still in business or not. If you PM me, I'll dig up his email address and give you some advice. They don't have a web site.

i found these while searching for some chains ,i must admit i like the idea of a coloured aluminium rather than the chrome standard chains ,the site sells them in 5m lengths for £4.95 they are 9mm x 6mm and the links are not soldered closed
,the light blue and the bronze are the ones i like the look of most ...now im in two minds whether to alter one of my sporran chains

I altered one of my sporran chains, and replaced the chrome chain with a black one. Looks very nice, IMHO.
