Somewhere I recall reading about a picture of someone wearing a tweed doublet. That seemed interesting.
* Never mind, I was probably wrong. *

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

As a side note, Sir Fitzroy is often cited as one of the inspirations for James Bond. (A rather exhaustive obituary can be read here: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/ob...y-1337837.html)
Here's an excerpt relevant to the forum:
Since 1941 Tito had been pinning down more and more German divisions in a highly successful guerrilla war. But there was another faction in Yugoslavia: the royalists and their military arm, the Chetniks, led by General Draza Mihailovic. Maclean's task was to find out, in Churchill's words, "who was killing the most Germans", regardless of political ideology or affiliation. Maclean's unorthodox methods, his refusal to go through channels, and the fact that he was known to have Churchill's ear, infuriated Special Operations Executive, who felt that he vas meddling in areas that were properly theirs. Friendly critics dubbed Maclean "the Balkan brigadier", "the Scarlet Pimpernel" and even (from his penchant for Highland dress) "Lothario in a kilt". Inveterate enemies, like SOE's Brigadier Mervyn Keble, had a less complimentary spread of nouns and epithets.
Best regards,
Jake

When wearing the kitchen sink, should the sprayer nozzle be worn loose or tied in a bow? And is there any significance to the positioning of the hot and cold taps? What about the stopper? I've heard that if it's in it indicates loyalty to the crown and if it's out to the Jacobites. Is that true?

I met Robin Blair when he was still the Lord Lyon. I could take him down if he happened to get rowdy.

I have a curios question. Where would I find a list of positions in Britain. I've googled but I'm not sure what to even call those positions like " Lord Lyon" I'm just curious as what positions there are and what the job actually entails.

Probably the best thing to do is get yourself a copy of Keepers of the Kingdom. You should be able to pick up a used copy on ebay or Amazon for under $25.00. You might also check to see if it is available at your local library, or if they can get a copy for you.

Hi wyldathart,
If you want to search on-line, you could try this -
http://www.royal.gov.uk/TheRoyalHousehold/Overview.aspx
and from Wikipedia, search -
Royal Households of the United Kingdom
You might also want to search for 'Royal Warrant Holders'. These are people, or businesses, who supply goods or a service to members of the Royal Family.
Regards
Chas
