There was silence
Yesterday eve we went to a christening and thereafter back to our friends for a bit of a celebration. There was about 20 of us, one of whom was a 14 year old boy. Everytime I went into the kitchen he would ask some sarcastic comment or question about my kilt or whats that in your sock, is that a handbag around your waist etc.
A little later he came in the living room and in one of thoses moments of silence said "so why do you wear a Kilt then".
My reply was "Because I am interested in Astronomy".
The look on his face was brill .. confused to say the least and there was a ghostly silence in the room as most of the others took on board what I had said .... then in the next breath I said to him "What other hobbies you got". Then I continued a normal conversation with someone else. Great fun.

You sir, would do quite well as staff on a psychiatric unit. Great response that would jolt most anyone back into reality.
