We did see quite a bit. It was nice to take walking tours of Dublin, Galway and Athenry. We took the train from Dublin to Galway. It was nice to just sit back and watch the countryside roll by. The EAT conferences were held at the RACE facility in Newbridge. It was humbling to be next to a million dollar horse. My daughter really enjoyed the Guinness. It was her first taste of it. That and the seafood chowder in all the pubs we stopped in. Man was that good.

One of my favorites parts of the trip was trying to decipher the English being spoken to me. The Irish on the west coast talk so fast I can't keep up. I had to ask the bartender in Athenry 4 times to repeat himself before I understood "Is that it?" The look he gave me was priceless.

Living in Galway has given me the ability to decipher any Irish accent...even Cork! But I remember the FIRST Irish person I talked to in Ireland- a cabbie from Galway. I couldn't understand ONE WORD!

My Trip To Ireland Part VI

A castle in the Burren area of Ireland just south of Galway.

    Burren Landscape

Hieroglyphics in the Burren area. The guide told us they were Viking glyphs but I think some creative tourism was going on. Beloitpiper is the resident expert on such matters. Perhaps he'll chime in with some accurate historical info!

My Trip To Ireland, Part VII

Cliffs Of Moher, It was cold, rainy and windy the entire time we were there. The reason we made the bus trip was to see the cliffs so it was quite annoying. But what can you do. And BTW, it rained every day we were in Ireland. Two weeks of nothing but rain. It was a treat at first. It rarely rains in Tucson, but c'mon it's my vacation.

    My daughter

    My wife

We left the Cliffs of Moher and drove to the Little Cliffs, about 20 minutes. The sun was shining, no wind, just beautiful weather. I had such a bad case of vertigo taking these shots. I actually had to lie down to take some of them.
