My wife is cool with my kilt wearing. My daughter loves it, my son is ok with it, and my parents think it looks very nice. Glad they all appriciate it as much as I do.

My wife thinks I'm off. She rolls her eyes and make comments like "a kilt, again?", as too my son, the 17 year wonder boy, who wonders aloud "why of all things a kilt?".
My family thinks I'm odd, but then they always have; I'm the only one who did any organized activities in High School or College and I Rodeoed semi pro for a while, They thought that was off as well. When I decided to pursue they ministry the really thought I had lost it. I remember my Aunt's reaction "You are going to do what?....why they don't make enough to spit at!" .....as if following a calling had anything to do with money.
I do have some supporters however, my Mum thinks its grand, she is especially fond of my Lindsay. One of my best friends thinks I'm dashing in the Kilt, and asked me to make sure I show up tomorrow to do a blessing for her earth day celebration in my kilt and formal attire.
Like Ron, I must follow the admonition "to thine own self be true", kilts are now a part of my life; like em or lump em, I'm gonna wear em! ith:

My wife prefers me in a kilt (in fact, she enjoys other men in kilts as well.) I asked her why once. Her answer was straight to the point. To quote my wife, she says "A man in a kilt is more self assured, looks better than trousers, and the swing of the pleats is downright sexy." We have been together over thirty years, and have seven children, and she still likes to walk behind me when I am kilted to watch the swing of the pleats. I am definitely blessed to have this woman as my wife.
The children on the other hand, have mixed reactions to the kilts. We have four girls and three boys. The three older girls like the kilt, while the youngest girl (who is thirteen) likes the kilt, but gets embarrassed when I wear it to her school functions (she thinks it is fine everywhere except school.) We moved from the San Francisco bay area to outside of a town of less than 1000 people. Ninety percent of the people in the area are of Celtic descent. So,...I try not to laugh when she says she doesn't want to explain our heritage and the kilts to her friends, this of course, will change with age. (On a side note, one of the school district's music teachers is the mother of Celtic violinist Hanneke Castle. She also has been my daughter's instructor for violin and guitar.) The three boys think kilts are cool.
