When I first got a kilt (Utilikilt), my girlfriend at the time was lackluster about it, but not disapproving. The only comment she made when I asked if she liked it or not was to the effect of "Well it gives me easy access". Besides that, I have always received positive remarks from women about the kilt.

I love my husband in the kilt. I think he looks handsome and it puts us both in good moods. I wish he'd wear it more, but he's losing weight so his kilt fits a little off right now (not really worth the trouble to try "fixing" it right now, we'll just deal with it as he continues losing weight and eventually buy him better kilts when he's closer to his goal weight), and he wants to get better accessories.

My wife loves it when I wear a kilt. Her family likes it too. My family, not so much. Oh well, I don't particularly care what they think about the matter.

My wife prefers me in a kilt (in fact, she enjoys other men in kilts as well.) I asked her why once. Her answer was straight to the point. To quote my wife, she says "A man in a kilt is more self assured, looks better than trousers, and the swing of the pleats is downright sexy." We have been together over thirty years, and have seven children, and she still likes to walk behind me when I am kilted to watch the swing of the pleats. I am definitely blessed to have this woman as my wife.

The children on the other hand, have mixed reactions to the kilts. We have four girls and three boys. The three older girls like the kilt, while the youngest girl (who is thirteen) likes the kilt, but gets embarrassed when I wear it to her school functions (she thinks it is fine everywhere except school.) We moved from the San Francisco bay area to outside of a town of less than 1000 people. Ninety percent of the people in the area are of Celtic descent. So,...I try not to laugh when she says she doesn't want to explain our heritage and the kilts to her friends, this of course, will change with age. (On a side note, one of the school district's music teachers is the mother of Celtic violinist Hanneke Castle. She also has been my daughter's instructor for violin and guitar.) The three boys think kilts are cool.

My wife is a highland Scot who was brought up in a house where the kilt was worn by her family on a regular basis, so she KNOWS about the kilt.Which makes my life easy!

Well, my wife approved of my getting a tank to get married in and got me my Utilikilt when I gained weight. She loves them on occasion, though is indifferent to my wearing them daily. I think she'll react better once I have more tartan kilts and not all MUG types. She saw the Scott B&W tartan that I'm looking at next and had a look at the Farquharson Ancient and had some encouraging words about both. I'm glad that there are some good tartans in my family since the Christie tartan would be better used for a hunter's safety jacket.

A fairly long jones for a more tartans though since losing weight is a marathon rather than a sprint.

My daughter is 2 months old so I don't think she has an opinion about it. My in-laws are ok with it, though my brothers-in-law have bought into Mediterranean macho culture a bit too much so I have to remind them that "Pants are for girls." When they're around.
