Kilt hygiene "underkilt"

I like to go out and get the baseball 3/4 length sleeve tshirts. They are usually go down halfway between my waist and knees. So it covers the possible dirty bits but still leaves me breezy.

Here us a link to underkilts. I haven't bought any of them myselves. But to me it makes sense that if you want underwear with a kilt it should'nt have "legs".

While I realise a great number of kilt hirers are concerned with the state that some of their kilts come back in, I believe that it is wrong to compare the hygienic state of underwear worn under trousers to the state of hygiene of a kilt after a days wear. The kilt is a freeflowing, well ventilated garment, underwear is not.
The kilt hirers are concerned because when they hire out a kilt at the weekend, for most likely a wedding, in many cases the wearer gets bladdered and is not concerned about the state of the kilt as it does not belong to him.

Personally, I have never found any of my kilts in an unhygienic state after prolonged wearing from early morning to late at night.
I appreciate that everyone has different standards but personally wearing something similar to an underskirt would not appeal to me

For those that may not be familiar, back in the earlier days of the band they used to go on stage and perform their entire show wearing nothing more than a tube sock....and not on a foot.

I recently bought a modern charcoal grey kilt that I wore during Hogmanay. Upon arriving at the first pub, I realized that the wool was not merciful while sitting. I had to endure the discomfort for the night, however. Upon returning home to the U.S., I took a cloth table napkin and stitched the four corners to the underside of the first flap. Success!

Ever since I read this thread about using the restroom in your kilt, some sort of protection for the kilt has seemed like a good idea.

I've seen the underkilts and similar things, and while they're a great idea, it seems to me that they're much tighter around the thighs than the kilt. That sort of restriction defeats the greatest advantage of kilting.

So here's what I've been considering:

1. Cut off an undershirt as the Wizard of BC describes here.

2. Before dealing with the cut edge at the top, cut straight up the tube from bottom to top to create a rectangle.

3. Hem all three cut edges; the sides and the top.

4. Attach the piece of fabric to the inside of the kilt. Here's where my plan gets a bit less definite. I'm not sure the best way to attach the fabric. I'm thinking perhaps velcro attached to the kilt's liner and the t-shirt fabric itself. This would make it removable and easily washable.

I don't know whether anyone else has tried this, but if you have, I'd love to know about how it worked out. When I get around to trying it myself, I'll post results in a new thread.
