As a former horse owner, dog owner etc. animal hair has never bothered me, and this little one will not bother me either, as for claws getting cault in Lochcarron wool well she has not done that yet. The other cat seems to be coming around so we may just be able to keep this one.

In my experience, it's not so much "city vs. country" as "pet owner vs. non-pet owner". We, the pet owners, know that there is going to be hair, occasionally lots of it, and we deal with it. The non-pet owner reacts otherwise, e.g. "Cat hair! Dog hair! Get it off! Get It Off!"
Glen, I hope the older cat finds wee Nessie Sporran acceptable. She probably will - new kittens are tolerated better than new adults.
As for the claws in wool thing, I taught my cat not to do that. Every time she started, I gave her a light *bop* on the head with a knuckle. Since she only kneads when she's relaxed, she learned that if she wants to stay that way she won't use her claws. There is nothing relaxing about a bony knuckle between the ears, even if applied lightly.

Ogdon Nash was right.
The only problem with a kitten is that
it always grows up to become a CAT!!!

looks like a sweetheart!
Being a cat man of long standing, congrats on the new companion. I have two boys and two girls at home, one grand old gentelman outside, (Who lives in a house nicer than my first apartment, and about the same size) and one cat at the radio station I work at. that's her (Jett) in the above left photo.
Looks like that sporran wont hold much more than a handfulll of kibbles!

Well she's just too cute Glen! Blessings on you for caring for this wee one - and sporran would be the perfect name for this little tike.

I always had dogs until I met my wife (and soul mate of over thirty years now.) She introduced me to cats, rabbits, and the clown prince of thieves, the ferret.
After living with that diverse group of personalities for many years, I have to agree with the late Col. Jeff Cooper, when he pronounced the differences between having dogs and cats. Jeff wryly observed that dogs had owners, and cats had staff.
Glen, it sounds like the kitten has already given her preferences to the staff.
