You know, I have gotten a lot of my suits and nice clothing from Good Will type stores. As long as you know what to look for, you really can find some very high quality clothing for very low prices. There's one I go to where they price all of the suits the same, so you might see a very nice wool suit right next to a shiny green polyester lounge suit, all for ten dollars.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I have picked up a couple of Harris Tweed sportscoats from thrift shops recently (one in VA, one in Scotland) and a Brooks Brothers formal shirt in excellent condition (a snip at $2.50!). Hopefully I'll have a fraction of that luck this weekend, let the rummaging begin!

I have had some fantastic luck with thrift stores over the last couple of years, including finding a perfect condition wool Black Watch tartan blazer and Lindsey tartan waistcoat in my size.
But Thrift stores can be a hit or miss proposition, they reward the patient.
So I went out this weekend and here are my treasures

One nice button up sweater vest, two delightful ties, and this small dish (I just couldn't leave a piper behind!)
A close up showing the ties' patterns

In addition I picked up one hardcover and three trade paperback novels for my lovely Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess.
My total came to about $11
I hope my fellow bargain hunters had good luck
Cheers

So - a few weeks ago, we spent a weekend in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, renting a home from a friend. It was a picture perfect weekend, and I spent the majority of my time kilted (Macgregor Sport Kilt). You'll have to take my word for it, as I was the chief photographer for the event, and there are no pictures of me in the kilt.
That friend that owns the house was tickled at my being kilted, and very supportive...she also happens to spend some of her free time working in a thrift store.
Last friday, i received an email that she had received a kilt in her store, and didn't feel she would be able to sell the item, wondered if I might want it. She said the label read..."LochCarron...MacDonald Mod...size 14." A kilted skirt to be sure, send it my way!!
Well, it arrived yesterday...and while I didn't find any treasures in my thrift store search this past weekend, I still received a thrift store treasure...

I had to share my story of good fortune!
