    Here's the system I was talking about.

    The strap of course can be shorter. If you use Chicago rivets (screw back rivets) you can easily add the buckle or take it off.

    Interesting, I read your reply and envisioned something entirely different.

    I pictured a smaller strip that wrapped around sandwiching the end of the belt with the chicago screws securing the sandwich and creating a new loop for the buckle.

    Now I am not sure which is better....
