I assume you had enough smarts to get out! I've done it for the last 32 years, and now I'm too damn old to find anything other than another part time job doing janitor work at night. Two full time jobs that add up to one adequate salary. My wife is a special education teacher, which pays good but she's thinking about summer employment for the first time. We have little bills but a GAWDAWFUL mortgage rate of 12%!!!! It's a struggle to meet it everymonth. I wish I could say I was scrimping to save up for a custom from Matt or Barb but instead I'm scrimping to save up for a Stillwater standard. (Not to dog at all on Jerry and his great product or speed of light service, just comparing the prices...) My next goal is saving up for one of his sporrans. If I wasnt a well known morning radio personality, I'd rob one of the liquor stores in town. But they all listen!!

I was lucky. I was only out of work for two months. but during that 2 months the mortgage did not get paid. Luckily, the mortgage was sold three times in six months and no one could find me. Now my wife is out of work. I struggle to get the mortgage current. Luckily the payment was reduced. Interest rate still high, but we are functioning. Now my wifes daughter is getting married. Luckily, all we have to do is buy the beer. (Guinness, of course). Life will go on. We all will do better once the economy turns. Goodd luck to all. We are all in this together.

... searching for that next great opportunity ...
I wish I could think that way. I feel like I'm just searching for my next layoff.

yeah
Lucky for me, I have seen no problems with my job, working in the education field college usually does better in a bad economy. More Enrollment. Odd I know.
I have seen 3 vacated houses in my neighborhood though, it is a fairly good neighborhood, so its a shame to see stickers on the front door and grass 8 feet high. I am worried about my neighbors.
I just wish there was something I could do for my neighbors. I have had 4 grown men with push mowers knock on my door wanting to mow my lawn. I assume they are out of work. It almost brings me to tears.

Ever since I sold my business several years ago, it has been a frugal time for me. Granted it was a choice on my part, but I have become used to it. I do understand why people are concerned. I do manage some of the family business (which is why I sold my business), but that does not pay too well.

Yeah, the nightclub biz pays about twice what a radio station does in a small market. I'm still managing a small day-time AM station, but only because our company still owns it. I loved (and still do) radio, but it's changed so much in the past few years, it's now boring. Everything is automated. Don't even push a cd player start button. And not to mention the HUGE pay The worst part is, radio sales used to pay better than the programming side of things, but now I think it's about equal there too.

I made sure to finish my black tie outfit before the economy really hit the fan. But now I have no more kilt dollars to spend. Sad story, but I have a great looking kit!

I think those guys are working across the street from me. It appears they've got a new "André" as well!
Seriously though, the times they do suck right now. Several of my friends have lost their jobs or faced severe cutbacks in hours so as to make the job almost pointless to keep. Best of luck to everyone.
