I think "Gordon" is in reference to the maker Gordon and Sons. I would imagine that the tartan is the current government sett or Black Watch. Saul must be one of those skinny guys that can wear a military kilt.

No, I´m not Jewish. I´m AngloSaxonCeltic, not particularly religious. I just like the name Saul for internet use. But this seems to be a tartan everyone can wear. The kilt found me, not the otherway round!

[QUOTE=puffer;735016]SAUL, If you have not bought it DO SO ASAP !!
IMHO, A "REAL" REGIMENTAL KILT, in NEW condition, is perhaps, the best you can buy. ith:
Yes its the real Makoy. No doubt about that. And the price is quite reasonable. See later posing please.

The lady in the shop is a darling and has put it on the side for me. Dashed in as shop was closing. Will go back to put down a deposit tommorrow.
Please see posing below.

My first kilt was a military Gordon, playing tenor drum in a Canadian militia pipe band. The Gordon tartan brought back so many fond memories I purchased a new one about a year ago. Wear it well and proudly!

Thanks for the welcome. Your pictures are super. Only one lets the side down somewhat, you in a pair of shorts!

Not exactly skinny!
I´m not sure what the tartan is. I´ll photo it at some point.
As to me being skinny, we come to a slight hitch with my kilt escapade. I'm not overweight, but as it is I can´t quite get ínto it. However, the lady in the shop showed me what to do. I need to cut stitches on one or both sides to release folds of material intended for enlargement. Then modify the lining. This will give me the lenght I need to get the buckles to meet without affecting the pleats at the back. I love those. Ever so clever. Each pleat is exactly in phase with the lines of the tartan. And the whole thing is so heavy.
I could have a go myself at doing the alteration. If I get in a mess there is a really good tailor in town who could fix it for me. The lenght is perfect. Top just above the navel, hem mid-knee.
Any tips on how to go ahead are welcome.
